Vegas Day 7

We slept in a little today, until 8am to be exact. That doesn't happen often and that meant that there would be no sunrise for us today.

I looked around for tickets for a show tonight since we didn't do one last night (although I had convinced the kids last night that our "show" consisted of a free Bellagio water show and a ride on the High Roller. They didn't find that amazing). Once again, looking for those Michael Jackson Cirque shows but they were super expensive. There were plenty of advertisements online saying the cheapest tickets were supposed to be $76 each. But, when you look the cheapest tickets to be found was around $140. That's almost double the price. I guess I would just have to wait for another night again.

Sakari wanted to see Blue Man again because she loves the show and knew Karl would like it too. So, instead I booked it for $55 each. That's much better! However, it wouldn't be until tomorrow. Ugh. I was hungry so I would have to come back to this topic at a later time on a full stomach. I think much better that way. 😂

Time for a little cheaper breakfast and Karl said "Let's just go back to Denny's". That sounded like a great idea and off we went. It was so crowded outside and I knew this was going to be such a long wait. When we made it up to the doors, we discovered they had decided to do things a little differently and pull the check in stand to the door, take you name there, and you would wait outside until you name was called. They were not allowing anyone inside until it was time to be seated. At least it gave people room to check out and pay their bill inside without fighting their way to the cashier.

I tried something new this time around, the Grand Slamwich with 2 scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon (hold the ham) and American cheese on 2 slices of grilled artisan bread with maple spice spread served with has browns ($16.79). Don't that sound like heaven? The hubby had a Ultimate Omelette ($16.49) and the kids had a French Slam ($16.29) and a Waffle Slam ($17.79). There was a whole lot of slamming going on this morning and boy did we slam.

Our bill would cost to $90.51 and definitely cheaper than Maxies and definitely more food.

With our bellies full of protein and carbs, we were going to head in the other direction this time (toward Mandalay). We hadn't been down this way to actually explore.

We walked across the street to the Excalibur.

Then inside the hotel:

Instead of riding the free monorail over to Luxor, I pumped up the spirits of the kids, cheered them on and said "Let's just walk and get those steps in!" I'm pretty sure they rolled their eyes at me but followed me as we started on our journey to the next hotel.

Inside the Luxor we would tell Karl this is where we stayed last time and tell him about the sideways elevator, the open hallways on each floor and how people have jumped to their deaths there. I believe I had actually read that the latest "jump" was just a few months earlier. How devastating for all involved.

The Luxor really is such a neat place but the hubby said he didn't think there's really much there to do here like the other hotels or have as many food options and he was glad we stayed somewhere new.

We walked over to Mandalay, taking the shopping mall route inside, and would come across another all natural shop with soap, skin and hair products. I would find something I wanted for my face and also hair. A little pricey but I hadn't bought myself anything except a hoodie so far.

We continued walking...the kids did not know where we were going but at this point I had decided we were heading to the Shark Reef since we didn't get a chance to go last time. I wasn't really sure what to expect and had seen pictures of a large tank you walk through with sharks swimming over top of you. But honestly I hadn't seen much more than that. I had really hoped the price would be worth it if that's all there was to it. But either way, it would be the cheapest thing we have done so far at $29/pp.

Continuing on...

We arrived and purchased our tickets and got in line to go in. There was a short wait before they allowed us to go in. There were a lot of people that had the same idea as we did I guess.

I have to say that I thought the place was really neat and very neatly laid out. It had a theme of a ancient sunken temple and I love things like this.

You would wind your way around different rooms with different animals. It was really neat. Gators and fish in here...and one large komodo dragon that seemed a little tired with a giant yawn...or either we were boring him.

Each aquarium represented a certain area and the animals there.

This fish was SO FAT! Obviously not swimming as many miles as we were walking each day.

Super long fish in with some different types of Stingrays.

We have finally arrived to the reef aquariums with all the fish we love so much.

Then came the shark tank tunnel that you see in all the pictures online. It was beautiful and we would spend some time in there and just sit along the side and watch all the sharks and fish swim by.

Trying to get a picture with the Trigger fish behind us.

I think someone stretched this shark out.

On to the next room they would have a touch tank. We've done this so many times we didn't bother this time but watched the rays as they swam by.

The Lion Fish tank:

Did you recently get botox on those lips? Pucker up!

The Jelly Fish tank. So majestic but dangerous.

Octopus and Starfish area:

This little one had found himself something that looked like a cup and was not letting go.

We came out to yet another aquarium with many sharks in it and some really weird ones too! There were also some turtles in the tank.

We were at the end and we definitely enjoyed our time there and highly recommend coming here.

A video of a few things we seen while here:

It was time to head back to the room for awhile and decide what we would do tonight. I knew there was no way I was getting away with another night without a show.

This time, we were definitely saving our legs and taking the free monorail from Mandalay to Excalibur and then walk across the bridge to our hotel.

We needed a snack and there was a pretzel place right as you walked in at NY NY and the smells were really getting to us over the last few days. It broke us. We just had to stop and get some. I have to say it was definitely yummy!

Back at the room I would search for a show for tonight. My oldest daughter Kendra had told me, the last time we were in Vegas, that we needed to go see Criss Angel. I had never heard of him before but she said it was a magician and he was supposed to be really good. So, why not?

Tickets were $75.75 each for a total of $393.58 for all 4 of us.

It was time to head to our 7pm show at Planet Hollywood. As we walked across the bridge to the other side of the street we would take one glance of all the people waiting at the bus stop again. Nope! We're not even going to try that again. We headed back to the monorail and bought tickets.

I wasn't quite sure where we were supposed to get off to get the closest to Planet Hollywood. According to the listing on the monorail, we were to get off at the "Horseshoe", which I hadn't heard of but we were getting off there.

We had such a hard time finding our way out of here. These hotels are just so large and everything inside looks the same with all the slots/casino areas and it's so easy to get turned around. We actually ended up having to turn around and walk back the way we had came to even find the street.

Finally we had made it to Planet Hollywood and then more walking to find the theater.

Now this show they did NOT allow you to video ANYTHING! You would be completely removed from the show if they caught you with your phone out. Well darn.

Walking into the theater felt like you were walking into a haunted house with fake people crawling on the walls, faces painted, clowns peeking out and video's on the floor. On my, what are we in for? After all, this show is called "Mind Freak".

We found our seats and this would be the stage...and the only picture I would be able to take. I would send this to Kendra to let her know we had made it to the show.

The show was good and it's not like any show or magic show I had ever seen before. Everything he did was theatrical and uses the entire theater. The lights and everything was pretty amazing and we had a good time.

Heading out....this color changing light was pretty.

Ok, we are HUNGRY and we want CHEAP. Karl's absolute favorite place (as mentioned before) is Chick-fil-A. Yes we had gift cards for that. The only issue with this place is you pretty much have to order it to go because it's located outside with no inside place to sit and eat. There was a very small, very thin railing with around 5 chairs total that IF you were lucky you might get a seat at to eat. There were a lot of people ordering, which gave us plenty of time to wait for chairs and we were actually able to sit down to eat. Whew! I really didn't want to carry that all the way back to the hotel to eat. It would have been cold by then. Karl was so happy he was able to get some chicken in him.

Crossing over the bridge and something was definitely going on down there....

We decided to stop at CVS on the way back and I would FINALLY get me a case of Diet Pepsi AND we got a bottle of....wait for it...Margarita! I was going to go back and try this out and if I liked it, I would get more for New Years Eve.

Back at the hotel we would drink our Margarita's...and we finished off the bottle. Oops! It was good but not as good at the Chi-Chi's Margarita's my ex-employer used to give us in our goodies bags every so often. I wasn't quite sure if I wanted to buy more or not. Let's see how I feel tomorrow.

So how far did we walk today?

Not quite as far as yesterday but still a lot of walking involved. You would think it would be less since we road the monorail but nope, that only added to our steps trying to get to it and away from it. LOL Lesson learned.

Time for bed.
