Vegas Day 9

After a very rough night at some point I must have managed to fall asleep in the early morning hours and slept in today. I guess there would be no sunrise for me this morning.

I managed to stop housekeeping on the way out because for some reason they did not come in and clean yesterday and after last night of so many showers, we had nothing but wet towels.

At 11:30am (I told you I slept in) we decided to go back to McDonalds for a cheap breakfast. I still had more on my gift card to use up. Well, we were too late for breakfast and would have to settle on lunch instead. I was kicking myself for this. I HAVE to have breakfast. It's my favorite meal of the day. I can eat it any time of the day including dinner. But, not today. ☹️

ree

There are so many different people out trying to get you to take your picture with them. I have read the reports prior to coming the first time...don't fall for this scheme. They will take a picture with you and then demand some outrageous amount, like $50, and when you refuse to pay they have people near by that will...well, enforce payment somehow. Yea, we're not getting mixed up with this scam. We had schooled Karl on their tactics prior to coming as well. Sakari had told Karl that he would see girls walking around with only pasties on, and he was on the look out, but we never did see them this time.

ree

We headed back to the room to decide what to do for the day. There was a place I had never heard of before and honestly I don't see many discussing it. It looked kinda neat but yet I wasn't sure what to expect or why they charged to go there. But, it would give us something to do for the day. Plus, we wouldn't be buying another Deuce pass because we would have to Uber there. I'm glad I didn't buy the 3 day pass now!

So what is this place? OMEGA MART at the Meow Wolfe. Yep, a grocery store that charges you to go in. Well, we are about to find out why because I just booked tickets. We would pay $256 ($64/pp) for all of us and it had a 4:20pm entry time.

We hung out for awhile, watching our "Alone" show, and then ordered an Uber to pick us up. We went a little early so that we could have a look around before going in.

As we were pulling out, we would notice there were a lot of aluminum portable street barriers along the side of the road now. The Uber driver would tell us they are preparing for the New Years Eve events and would be blocking off the streets (which I had read prior to coming).

ree

It would cost us $13.90 for our Uber ride (cheaper than tickets for the Deuce for all 4 of us) and it was a short 20 minute ride to this area, which was located in an area called Area 15 Art complex. We arrived at 3:15pm.

This was an arts district so we had a look around outside. It was nice out again today and 65°. There were actually a lot of people out with shorts on today. It may be warm out but not that warm. At least not for me.

ree

Inside it was laid out like a 2 story small shopping mall with many stores and areas to explore. Everything was neon and lights.

ree

So many weird and artsy stuff everywhere. Sakari loved it since she's an art person and has created things all her life.

ree

Ok, time to head in and see what this is all about. Yep, it was a grocery store. Nope, not your "normal" grocery store. Everything in there was FUNNY and unique.

Sakari headed straight to the Produce section because she works in produce and she let out a squeal with all of the items.

ree

Take the time to read the labels, you never know what they might say and we got a lot of laughs out of it.

Root Beer flavored vape juice...yep that should last awhile!

ree

Anyone for some Cage-Free Toes? Straight from the farm.

Yep, I'm pretty sure they designed this can especially for me!

ree

When booking our tickets on my phone, there was an area there that you filled out information and it gave you a "match" of the best product for you. This is what it gave me on the app and I managed to find it in the store and yelled "This is my match!" Whale Song deodorant: Calling for peace.

ree

Option C pills (mints). Directions: Take 3 tablets whenever you are presented with a choice between two options and you are told that you can only pick one. There's always another option. There's always option C.

Then there's the One A Year pill. That sounds like my kinda pill. Take it and forget it.

Taking a vitamin every day is no dance around the maypole. That's why one a year multivitamin is the most convenient way to pursue eternal youth without making any sacrifices!

Just in case you need reminders to take your pills....I'm not sure what you do the other days but hey, you only need to remember the One A Year vitamin once.

ree

ree

Moving on to the meat market now.

Sakari managed to find her favorite thing in the world...but they were not edible. They were sticky notes. LOL

ree

Just in case you needed it at this point...there was a bar inside.

ree

Now something I haven't discussed yet is that you could open up things and it would lead to hidden places. One of the hidden places was inside this tent.

ree

Clean up on Isle 9:

ree

So as I said, you can open things up and find hidden pathways. Open the freezer door, it would be a door that led somewhere else. The Ice Box led somewhere. The refrigerated section went somewhere else. Open. the beer freezer, yep it went to another room. So we started following some of the paths.

ree

Ok, time to explore some of the areas "inside". It was a big open warehouse with multiple rooms and areas to explore. This place was really neat! We have a place that is something like this here at home called "Other World" and we have been multiple times (they change out the rooms every so often and add more and all done by artists).

There would be activities you could do in a lot of the rooms as well.

ree

We kept moving along exploring...

You would find phones throughout the rooms and you could actually pick them up and call another department. Of course anyone who picked up in another department would be someone that happened to be in that area exploring just like us.

ree

Opening a door and heading into another area:

ree

The meat freezer:

ree

There was an upper floor as well to explore.

The flower room was cool and pretty:

This area was really pretty too and they changed colors:

This glass room had sketching in the glass and it moved. It was hard to get a good picture to show just how pretty it was.

ree

ree

Can you spot the kids in this wild room?

ree

ree

We went into a very dark room that we could barely see in and then "snap" it would capture our picture on the wall.

📷

ree

We found the employee lunch room and immediately the hubby went for the coffee. Oops looks like it was spilled. Reminded me of the mess he likes to make at home.

ree

Hang your coats up in the locker...wait, the lockers opened up to another hidden room.

Looking down below:

We made our way back downstairs.

ree

We opened up a hidden area and had to crawl inside. Once inside, it only went up, like a rock climbing wall with a rope to help pull yourself up. The kids immediately started climbing up. I looked at the hubby, who was still crawling in and told him what it was. He said "Maybe you shouldn't do that and come back out". NOPE! "I'm doing it. Come on" I would position myself first so that if I lost my footing and fell, I would hope the hubby would catch me. hehe

Then up we went with the hubby behind me telling me to "Go slow babe!"

Well, this meant we were back up on the second floor again. We looked around and couldn't find the kids. Where did they go? Looking over the side to down below, I thought I seen one of them walk by. So, we headed back down again where we would eventually find them.

ree

More hidden areas:

When we thought that we had explored all the rooms...and honestly I'm still not sure that we found them all, we were back out in the grocery store again.

The kids were back over at produce again taking pictures.

So after spending several hours in Omega mart we decided to head out. For those of you that wonder, yes a lot of these items in the store can be purchased. All the wacky stuff can be brought back to your home to show all your family and friends. I will warn you though, it was expensive.

Here's my video of various areas inside the Omega Mart. I hope you enjoy it. You will have to click the link to take you there since, for some reason, when I uploaded it, it considered it a "short" on youtube instead of a regular video.

So time to explore the actual mall.

There were several bars and arcades in the mall.

ree

The Rocket Fizz was a place to purchase all kinds of candy and drinks.

There was a pretty lit up tree in the middle that would change colors. It was so pretty.

We decided to stop for some ice cream cones at a place called Dream Weaver. They had soft serve ice cream and boba tea. They had unique cones with different flavors to go with the unusual flavors of ice cream. I went with the Red Velvet Cake cone and I believe the hubby went with a Midnight Vanilla Waffle Cone. They had other flavors like Lavender and Birthday Cake too! It was pretty yummy. You could add sprinkles of all different kinds of toppings but we opted not to.

They had other places you could pay to go into, but we decided to save the money and just continue exploring.

ree

They also had ziplining inside the building. We didn't do it since we had already got our ziplining fix earlier in the week.

Here's a small video of inside the mall.

Upstairs there were a few places to go in (for a payment) but we did manage to find one, Museum Fiasco, that was offering a "Christmas Special" and you applied a coupon on the kiosk at the end and it made it free.

They would give you a pair of 3D glasses to wear and then in we went. It was pretty freaky to say the least trying to go down the hall with laser beams.

You came out to a large room with lights that changed colors and they were playing music. With the glasses on, it was hard to tell where the actual light was and what part was "unreal". I had to remove my glasses several times to see where I was going. They did have seats along the side that you could sit and just take it all in.

Of course trying to take a picture is not the same as what you are seeing with the glasses on. Several times I tried to hold the glasses up in front of my camera to get the same view.

Sakari, who loves dancing of course, started dancing with Karl again:

Here's a short video inside the Museum Fiasco. You can see what it looks like without glasses and then once glasses are put on....and of course the kids having their Christmas dance. They are so cute.

Well, we had spent most of the day here and time to head back. We headed outside and decided to explore a little more and look at the artwork.

There was more out here than we had originally thought.

This robot had just given up.

There was a large contraption that looked like a UFO and we watched it go up in the air. As we continue to watch it, we noticed there were people on it. The chairs appears to be facing inward instead of out to look around. Maybe it was a bar?

Inside some type of trailer with lots of mirrors

ree

I guess I didn't realize how close we were to the strip. You could see the hotels from here. Not that I would want to walk that far but it is a possibility and then we would have had to catch the bus back to the hotel. So, Uber is definitely the way to go for cheap and quick. When we ordered our Uber we knew we wanted to go somewhere to eat so decided instead of heading directly to the hotel and then walking to some place, we ordered it to drop us off at Raising Cane's instead. The cost would be $19.97 to get there.

ree

Passing a few places on the way back:

Raising Canes was right across the street from NY NY so we grabbed our food, used more of my gift cards, then headed across to our hotel to find some seats to be able to eat at a table.

We headed back to the room, which still wasn't cleaned and no dry clean towels either. I had to phone housekeeping to at least get them to bring us some. While we waited I would discover that the new season of Squid Games was out and it was time to start that season and put "Alone" on hold for awhile.

Still no photo of our steps today. I must have been slacking but don't worry, I wrote them down.

Only 3.48 miles today, 8,203 steps and 3 flights climbed.
