SEROE COLORADO LIGHTHOUSE 2018

This lighthouse is located on the southeastern tip of Aruba and is actually an active lighthouse. There are 2 lighthouses in Aruba and the other is more well known is the California Lighthouse located on the opposite side of the island. 

This lighthouse was originally built in 1881 out of stone and wood.

The lighthouse is 167 feet high and protected by a wire cage. It can be seen for 21 nautical miles (or 24 miles).

The surrounding area has the remains of the filitary defense zones and bunkers that were once occupied and used by more than a thousand American soldiers during WWII to defend the oil refinery. The refinery had more than 10,000 employees and was one of the largest in the world.
