2026 Prima Heading to Orlando

We're headed to Orlando!

Since we had a later flight today we were appreciating not having to get up at the crack of dawn before the tweety birds this time around. There was plenty of time to run around the house like a mad (wo)man grabbing forgotten items to shove in the already packed to the rim suitcases.

Now after this trip with 4 large suitcases, 4 people and a wheelchair I have determined I will never be able to apply to be a XXL Lyft driver in my vehicle. We.were.packed! I was making life decisions on whether we would have to leave "Karl" at the curb after trying to get everything in the SUV.

We all decided to stop at Wendy's for a quick breakfast before heading to the airport. I don't know what possessed them to give me something that looked like this...

And that picture was taken AFTER I scrapped most of it off (it's tons of flour). I looked like a 3 year child covered in flour on my black shirt at this point. The hubby felt bad for me and said "Here, take mine. I will sacrifice my taste buds for you". Aww, he's so sweet. But that didn't last long before he decided his taste buds were not what he thought and headed back in to Wendy's for a remake of more presentable correct buns.

Ok, time to head to the airport and drop the kids off with all the luggage to wait for us while we headed to the parking lot and shuttle over to them. This is the new norm for us and I have to say it works out pretty good even though it takes longer.

Our once family picture of us waiting on the shuttle has reduced to just the hubby now. Don't he look cute with his little pink basket? (I bought this several weeks ago to use to carry all my crap back and forth from work so thought it might be easy to shove stuff in there and not have to go digging for things when I needed them since it's hard plastic and stays open.) We will see.

We all have TSA check in so that things will go smoothly and quickly. We have enjoyed having it for several years now. HOWEVER...it doesn't seem to hold true for "Karl". I swear his pat down takes forever now. They have to check each and every crevice on his wheelchair before releasing him.

Time to board the plane and Sakari quickly forgets to give me the "good luck" touch of the plane. How dare her. Ok, whatever happens happens I guess. You didn't touch the plane for good luck this time.

I guess being in a wheelchair has its perks. We are now the first to board the plane every time. Winning...or are we?

Well, I would quickly learn that my pink bag did not fit under the seat in front of me and I would spend the next 5 minutes trying to fold down all 4 sides of hard plastic to shove it in there only to discover I had forgotten to get my airpods out of it. Pull the bag out and repeat this process.

At least the good thing about this flight is...

And my official pick was...

Luckily this was only a 2 hour 15 minute flight and before you knew it we had arrived and were at the "train shuttle station" heading over to gather our bags. "Karl" was forced to carry the pink bag now. Isn't he cute.

Even though I mumbled at using so many points to book a $400+ room, I was super relieved we didn't have to go anywhere else and could relax the rest of the day and be able to get food as well.

While we were checking in, I did ask if they happen to have a handicapped room and they did! Well that will make it nicer for "Karl". Score!

So here's our handicapped room. "Karl" was impressed with the height of the beds (last time on our short trip to Vegas they were too high for him to transfer).

Who was in charge of the shower curtain??? Even though this was a handicapped room, there was no shower chair in it. No shower for "Karl" until he's on the ship in a "real room". 🤞

Yippee! We have a balcony! The last time we stayed here we had a balcony to the outside overlooking the planes coming and going. This time it was to the inside of the airport. However...we would soon find that it was locked with a note saying they would not allow anyone on the balcony. Hmmm...I guess they don't want any incidents like they seem to have in Vegas at the Luxor all the time. Eeekk! I guess I won't get to perfect my people watching skills for this stay.

Time to unpack and "Karl" is always bragging about how he can do things on his own. "Ok...prove it. Let's see you get your luggage up on the bed." He tried and tried. He stated "It's because I don't have any core support. Sakari, hold my core and I'll show you." So she did...and he didn't is all I can say.

After a bit is was time to go explore the airport. Woo Hoo...the excitement. Well, there was food involved so everyone was game.

We circled the food court multiple times trying to figure out what to eat and then split up. The kids had Chick-Fil-A and we opted for Sbarro's. I haven't had Sbarro's since I worked at the hospital over 14 years ago. I'm splurging this cruise and throwing caution to the wind...no keto for me. I know I'm going to regret this in a week but it is what it is. So that meant this yummy cheesecake was starring me down and begging me to buy and consume it. I gave in.

The hubby opened his up and SURPRISE!!! It was burned underneath. Ugh! Well now it's my time to take one for the team and I insisted on trading him since he traded me this morning. Now we're even. Except I didn't take it back, I ate it. That should get me an extra point right? I'll be sure to remind him later.

With our bellies now full we decided to head out to the shops to look around. Sakari was on a hat wearing binge and I didn't even take pictures of most of them but she was really excited to find a dinosaur face that she used to have when she was younger. She immediately put it on and started moving the mouth trying to eat everyone. Good times!

This fake guy that sits in a box is just simply amazing. The detail is crazy and gives Sakari something to strive for in the future I do believe.

We were on the same floor as the pool and decided to check it out and maybe hang out in the area. But, the doors were locked and there was a sign saying due to high winds it would be closed. Whoops.

Well, there's no other choice but to head back to the room to watch tv, engage in aggravating "Karl" and vice versa and shower time....then off to bed time. 💤
