Day 5: Sea Day
Yep, we were already heading back to port and it's another sea day. Ugh! I know a lot of people love sea days and consider it a day of relaxation. But, I find them boring and would rather be in port doing something strenuous, exciting, adventurous and yes, even tiring. I just love knew experiences while in port. But, that's what happens when you book a short cruise...you can't go far or to many places.
We didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night from this annoying banging we kept hearing. Karl said it kept him up most of the night. I heard it multiple times but was able to drift back to sleep....at least until around 5am. Then it was getting annoying. So far this cruise we haven't heard any sounds or had any problems. What could this be? Eventually I would have to go searching to rectify this noise. It ended up being the safe door rocking back and forth with the waves and hitting against the closet door. Geesh! Who didn't lock the safe last night? They must be punished. Oh that's right, I'm the only one that ever gets in it. Oops.
After fixing the noise, we were all able to sleep...except the hubby. He was now wide awake. By the time I finally got up for the day he was already 2 cups deep in coffee for the morning and working on his third.
We all headed to the buffet for breakfast. It was bacon day and I was happy. I wasn't too happy with my egg choice today. I had wished that I would have went to the omelet station instead.

But...these breakfast danishes made up for the eggs. Yep, this was my thing every morning now.

What to do now? We decided to just go out "Duck Hunting" for awhile. It's duck hunting season I've heard.
Well now, we definitely found several ducks, they were just not obtainable. (Yes, this is the comedian). He would tell the kids in the area that if they could tell him a joke, they could pull a duck off his shirt...and they did.

We took a look at the Checklist to Chill to see what we might be interested in doing.
Well, it said there was a Trivia in the area we were (Far Side of the World) and there were a lot of people there already. We've never really been into trivia in the past but I know a lot of people like them...and by the looks of things, this cruise group was no different.
We stood around and watched for awhile. The trivia was Name That Tune: Cartoons with the cruise director Orlando Magic. Hmmm, I actually knew a bunch of those and what I didn't know the kids and the hubby did. Ok, this might not be so bad. Wait, you get presents for this? We may have to attend another!
After trivia, we seen people signing up to do a Cornhole Tournament. We decided to stay and watch. I was a little bored with it and decided to head next door to the casino for a can of pop. Along the way I would find 3 ducks!!! I brought them back to the table the kids were sitting at and proudly displayed them in front of Karl. "Wait, what? Where did you find them?" I don't even think I got to answer him and he was up and off...to search for ducks. He ended up finding two ducks. Well, I know I still had found one more than him but...I really much rather be in the lead with MORE! I was off again.
So...how many did I end up finding??? You ready for this???? TEN DUCKS TOTAL!!! Yep, I'm the winner.

I had so many that we needed to go to the room to drop them off. Next time I'm bringing a bigger purse! LOL
When we got back to the room, we had a new friend. Mrs Squeaker had a baby! It was the smallest mouse ever! We now know not to leave her in the room unattended. They could potentially multiply!

We noticed that there was another trivia coming up and Sakari wanted to go. This time it was Family Toon Trivia. I honestly don't remember the difference between this one and the other. Maybe they played music on one and I do remember a screen showing a picture of the cartoon on the other.
We found our front row seats and Sakari grabbed a paper to write the answers down on. Meanwhile, Karl had grabbed his bank card and wanted to get money out to go to the casino later. He had been talking about this for days and especially after I returned one night with over $191. (hee hee jokes still on him).
I walked with him over to the atm and he's puts his card in, enters his PIN, then the machine freezes. We wait and wait and wait. After around 5 minutes it was time to get someone. We let Guest Services know and they came around and pushed the same buttons we had already tried multiple times. He stated that sometimes it goes offline...because we are in the middle of the sea.
Eventually he had to unplug it and plug it back in and Karl was able to get his card back and he gave me the thumbs up.

Back to Trivia....

The next event up after Trivia.....Caribbean Heat Dance Class with Tom from the Production Cast. We had no idea what this would involve, but if there's a dance class, we are usually there!
Yep, you guessed it. It was all the dance songs done (usually) during sail away parties: Cupid Shuffle, YMCA, Macarena and more. We finally got our sail away party dance on!
Next up was The Great Towel Animal Parade.

Now I know on other ships they have had (I think) classes that show you how to fold the towel animals like the room stewards do. However, this ended up being all of the room stewards creating their favorite towel animal and they went floor by floor displaying them. Then the audience voted on which animal they wanted to hear the sound of and that room steward had to make that sound. I'm almost positive at least 50% of them had never heard the sound of their animal they made. LOL It was hilarious to watch. There's a lot of them that we have never seen before. We always seem to get the same animals. (However we did get the mouse this time and I'm not sure if we've had that yet).
Pig I think they said?

Bald Eagle

Penguin

Snail

Alejandra, the assistant cruise director, was having a lot of fun with the room stewards and their imitations of the animals. Alejandra is from Mexico and made frequent jokes about it. She was a lot of fun.

Scorpion

Dragon

Turtle

My favorite of them all...alligator

Penguin and I don't remember

Cobra and Bunny

After all the floors were displayed, they put most of them out around the atrium for us to take pictures of....except my favorite alligator of course. It was no where to be found. :(
ANGRY BIRD and a TURKEY! Now that was cute!
Since we were over this way, we decided to stop by and pick out our pictures we wanted to buy. We would find out that they would cost $20/each or you could pick a package of 5 for $83. So that's like getting one for free! They also had a package were you could buy 10 of them but I don't remember the price. We ended up with the 5 picture package. They also told us it was for any size. However, when I went up to pay for the package, they INSTANTLY printed them off (in a size 5x7) and didn't ask what size I wanted. I was totally shocked that they instantly printed them. I haven't been on another cruise line that did this and you had to wait for them to be delivered or picked up the last day. Way to go Margaritaville!
It's been awhile since we had anything to eat and our choice for the day was Cheeseburger in Paradise. The line moved really quickly and I LOVED LOVED LOVED these mushrooms they had at a toppings bar.

Now, since we would be back in port tomorrow...and not going anywhere...we needed to figure out what we were going to do about getting off the ship and back on tomorrow. We had made the mistake of not calling the cruise line and booking the same room and it would have been much simpler if we had. But, they told us that since we would be in a different room, we would (of course) have to pack up everything to get it moved to the new room on another floor. They told us it was an easy process and we would put our new luggage tags on our luggage tonight and keep them in the room and just take them to the new room tomorrow morning. They said we would come down to the atrium in the morning by 8:30am to meet with someone and they would walk us off the ship and back on. Easy peasy! So, we will see.
Karl was itching to get to the casino and try his luck. He's never played before and he said "I'm feeling lucky!" So off we went. I tried to school him on cashing out when you are ahead and not get stingy and not spend his winnings.
He put his money in and hit pretty big and by big I mean around $60 right off the bat. He yelled "Beginners Luck!" Then he moved on to the next machine where he would win another $33.
Meanwhile, I'm over here winning less than $20 here and there.
I would check on Karl every so often and he was STILL on a winning streak!! He found a game that he just kept hitting the bonus round randomly and he would win good money each time. He said "Queenie and me have an understanding!" Sakari was cheering him on. Maybe she brought him good luck.
I think he walked out that night with a few hundred bucks ahead. Me, I stayed even.

Ok, we hit our playing time limit and it's time to go while we're ahead.
According to the schedule, they were having a "Bye Bye Bye Dance Class"....ok, yes! We are going.

The kids joined in. I didn't because there was a lot of jumping around and my foot can't handle jumping. They learned the entire routine to the song and had so much fun doing it.
A video of the whole dance after they learned it. Karl was really into it. So off beat most of the time and I'm pretty sure we need to get him a right foot because he has two lefts. But he gives it his all and Sakari loves every minute of having someone to dance with.
The kids wanted to go back to the dinning room again. They said they really enjoy it compared to going to the buffet. This is quite the change for us and may be something we stick with. I only wished at this point that I had brought more dressy clothes if we were going to do this. I had only brought one dress and although you don't have to dress up to go there, we like to when we go to the main dining room.
On the menu today

This time we decided we would go to the 3rd floor dining to change things up and headed to the Islander Dining Room.
This time they would sit us at a table with others beside us. I found this weird since there was plenty of seating open at other tables. They didn't even ask or give an option (and this didn't happen when we came before down stairs).
They always serve bread during dinner and Karl was quite excited when they gave him 2 pieces. He loves his bread!

We ask for straws for our pop and they brought up EDIBLE straws. How cool. Why are we just discovering this?

The photographer came around and told us to "cheers"...only it was with water.

Some of our starters consisted of Caribbean Egg Rolls (and they were AMAZING!) and Caribbean Cauliflower Soup.
I stuck with the shrimp again and had the Antigua Shrimp. The kids tried the Huli Chicken. The hubby had the Pescado Frito.
For dessert I tried the Coconut Tres Leches

We headed back to the room to do a little packing before going to the show tonight. We stopped to talk to the room steward as we were leaving and it's a good thing we did since we all walked out without our room keys. He kindly let us back in to grab them. We told him about our plans to stay on the ship and we were doing a back to back. He ask where we were moving to and said he would let the room steward on that floor know about our move.
Tonight's show was the Caribbean Heat Remix show.
There was a lot of singing and dancing and the two acrobats from the first night as well. They were good. The girl acrobat is really strong and held up the guy most of the time. She was amazing.
After the show we headed back to the room to finish packing. Our room steward told us he had spoken with the new room steward about us moving and they said to come down tomorrow morning and we would be able to put our luggage in the new room in the morning before we officially switched.
I finished packing with a bag full of collected ducks for the day and reminded Karl that I was still way ahead of him. ;)

Then we were off to bed. We had another "big day" tomorrow and would be back to port.
