Day 5: Sea Day

Well, I guess it's time to head back to port and that meant today was going to be a sea day. Isn't there any place else we can go along the way back???

I slept in a bit and was up by 8:30am. Before I could even get say good morning I heard the sound of a click to the door and the hubby was gone. Yep, he was off to get his coffee fix on. I would just wait for him to get back before heading up for breakfast. Only he wasn't returning...for quite some time. When he did return, he was juiced up and several cups in already. Ok, I'm hungry! The kids were still sleeping and I wasn't about to wait. My belly was talking pretty loud by now.

Today was sausage day. I'm missing my bacon. I headed for the omelet station and decided today I would make myself a bagel sandwich out of that omelet. Yum!

You can't forget the desserts of course...all 3 of them.

By the time we returned to the room, the kids were up and heading out to breakfast. So, we just hung out on the balcony for awhile and also started doing some packing.

Sakari would show me some drawings she worked on last night. "Which do you like better mom?" How could I possibly pick? I like all her drawings and are amazed by everything she comes up with.

Whelp, two luggage completed and I felt accomplished. Accomplished enough to call it quits for awhile and time to see what's going on around the ship.

Oh yippee, there's going to be another corn hole tournament...at this point Sakari is jumping up and down. I honestly didn't find it too entertaining and really wasn't looking forward to watching another very long and boring session of it. "Are you sure you don't want to go watch or do something else instead?" Karl speaks up "Casino?" Sakari says "I don't want to go watch the tournament, I want to be IN the tournament". Ohhhhh ok then. Then off we went...

They (and by they I mean her and her dad that got suckered into it) signed up and as we waited on it to start, the hubby (who has played this game enough times to fill up one hand) started giving Sakari tips. "When you go up there, get on the left side, it's easier to throw from that side since we are right handed". Then they were called and the guys they were playing against immediately went to the left side. Well, there's that. The reason they will use if they do not win the game. Then the game began.

Sakari landed a few on top of the board and the hubby was busy trying to take out the other player.

Sakari was on a roll and getting a few in the hole. However, the other team would get one in to cancel hers. The hubby made a few, but the other player would also make some.

They did really well...up until the last round and the other team pulled ahead for the win by getting like 6 points all in one round. Well, there you have it. Sakari had fun even if they didn't win.

They felt the need to celebrate their loss and we headed up to the pool deck for some ice cream. Now ice cream on this ship (I guess I should mention) there is a worker that will make it for you. You tell them if you want a cone or a bowl and what flavor. I guess they don't trust you to make your own. Now any time we've got a cone, it's been great. However this time, this worker was as stingy as you get. The ice cream barely made it up over the top of the cone. Are you serious? I told him I would be back for the rest of my cone...and I did come right back and get another and told him to make a little bigger this time around. ;)

The steel drummer was playing and I just loved listening to him. I guess I should also mention there was a violin player on the ship that was AMAZING as well.

Up next was another trivia: Family Cartoon Quest. We had a little time to kill so we decided to all go to the casino and play ONLY $20 each and if we win, we win and if we don't we don't play anymore.

Then off to trivia we went. We always thought that with being on the ship the previous week we'd have a hand up because we already played some of these games. But nope! They were completely different every time. However, we did manage to do really good on this game and ended up getting second place...without Sakari or Karl getting up to do any dancing for extra points.

So what we won...4 koozies that have the name Margaritaville at Sea on it.

Well the fun wasn't over yet...it was another Caribbean Dance Class with one of the dancers from the Production Cast. We all got up and immediately it went into a work out session. The minute they started having to jump up and down I called it quits. I can dance but I can't jump on my foot. I'm out!

I went over and sat down and of course attention was immediately called to me when she said "I understand some people might want to give up or it's too hard for them, but you can do the best you can and slow down". Ummm, ok. I kinda sorta thought that was a little rude. She doesn't know my circumstances behind sitting down. I do extreme activities. More than a lot of people I know. I can definitely dance for hours. But this was not dancing, this was like an aerobics or zumba class with too much jumping or hopping. Nope but thanks for calling me out.

She finally started teaching a "dance" that she said is actually part of their routine in their show and once we learned that we could jump up in the audience and start doing the dance to impress everyone.

Sakari just wasn't getting this dance and finally dropped out. Then Karl dropped out. But the hubby kept going and was the only one left standing out of us. Considering he wouldn't even dance during the Sexy (man) contest, I'm in shock. Oh, I completely forgot to mention, when we were on the excursion yesterday to the cenote, there were 2 other guys in the sexy contest...and then they noticed the hubby too. I guess all sexy men like the same excursion.

Ok, dance class was over and we decided to wander around for a bit to see if we could find any ducks. We stopped by the gift shop and I just kept eyeballing the same decor I had been since last week.

Well, then this happened....well...almost. None of our cards were working now. That meant we had to go back down to Guest Services and have them fix it again. Geesh! They ended up giving us new cards. But, they tried to forget about our pop package stickers that were on our old cards. Nope, not going the rest of the cruise without our pop. We made sure to have them put another one on there. Just in case you are wondering what another one of the pop cups they provide you with looks like (other than the alligators we got on the week before) here it is:

I was finally able to get them:

I just had to have them. They were so cute and go with my decor in my bedroom. I just hoped that it would fit in the suitcase now. The pelican is pretty tall at one and a half feet tall (they had bigger but I knew I wouldn't manage to get them in a suitcase).

After shopping the atrium had just had their towel animal parade. I stopped for a few pictures.

Sakari said they were having "pool games" and wanted to go up stairs. We would find that people were up there with hula hoops and they were all a group of young adults that had taken over the pool deck at sail away with their hip hop dancing show down and being the center of attention. Well, there wasn't much of a chance to grab one of those hula hoops and join in so we left. They just wasn't giving them up.

Since we were up at the pool deck, it was time to eat. The taco's were closed and so was the buffet. That only left Cheeseburgers in Paradise again.

Ok, belly's are full and we headed back to the room. More packing for me. A nap for the kids. Then we would find our new towel animal and he was cool.

We would also find another letter in our room. Wait, I already took care of my account. What could this be?

Well, I guess I would head down to the Excursion Desk to see what this was all about.

While I was down there I also asked Guest Services about luggage tags. Another thing I found strange was that they don't have them sitting out to grab or deliver any to your room. I would end up with Blue Zone 11 tags...whatever that meant.

When I went over the the excursion desk they would say "So we heard that your excursion had a few problems yesterday and we are willing to refund you 10% of what you paid is that ok?" Uhhhh, was I supposed to say no that's not ok? Of course I'll take some money back. They said ok, they would credit it to my account.

After getting back to the room to let the hubby know what it was I started thinking about it. Wait, should I have said no, that's not ok it should be more? Maybe that's what he meant by asking if it was ok. I should have at least tried.

***I'm just here to report, they DID NOT credit my onboard account for this. So, I figured maybe they were going to credit my credit card I used to book it. I just now looked and nope, they did not credit it either!!! That should have been $43.20 back***

I guess the positive thing to this story is that I FOUND A DUCK on the way back to the room. HA!

The hubby went up to get another ice cream cone while I was doing some more packing. He came back, sat down, bit into the cone and Karl automatically wakes up to the sound of food. Go figure!

Well now that the kids are awake, what do you want to do now? Karl=Casino. I think we have ruined him now. Sakari decided she wanted to stay in the room and just draw while we went.

Everyone always says not play the slots on the last day because they become "tight". I have never done any good on the last day I will admit. However, I didn't do too bad on this last night. I would win a little and then it would go back down some, then back up again and repeat. At the end, I put all of my tickets in one slot and cashed out for a few hundred. Then I went over to show Karl..."Look what I just won on your game you always play that hasn't been hitting for you for a few days now". He was bad mad. Then he's like "Wait a minute. You didn't just win that did you? You put all your tickets in together didn't you?" Ahhh, I was finally busted. He's like "Wait, is that what happened last week too when you came back to the room showing me you won $191?" I just started laughing and the joke was now over darnit. The gig was over.

We returned from the casino and Sakari couldn't wait to show me her drawing she did in color. Gosh were we really gone that long? She done did a drawing of a person and an entire bedroom with so many details in it.

Ok, I think it was time to go to dinner. The kids wanted to go to the main dining room of course. So the menu tonight

This time they said there would be around a 40 minute wait. They gave us a beeper and we headed outside to wait.

Karl and I took some pictures of Sakari looking out at the water and she grins and says "Why are you both always taking pictures of me?" LOL

There were some powdery pastel clouds tonight. So pretty!

The kids were getting bored. So, what do you do when you are bored, on a ship, on the deck and no one is around? You race! That's what you do. Oh boy. You see Karl was on his school track team so he's a runner. He also has the 4' long legs. So, I hope Sakari's hopes aren't up too high. He at least told her she got the go and when he seen her start, he would start. No, I think she should get a head start. She's also running barefoot as well. Nope, he wasn't having it. What are you afraid of Karl?

She almost had him until toward the end. He felt bad for her and carried her back since she said her feet were stinging.

Our beeper went off and it was time to eat.

We had yummy Loaded Mac & Cheese, Caesar Salad, Spinach Salad and Thai Coconut Soup.

I think the kids had the Southern Fried Chicken and I always went with the Shrimp (& Grits) meal (I just forgot to take a picture of it). The hubby had the Braised Short Ribs. He did ask the waiter how big the ribs were (or how many you get) and he said it was pretty small. The hubby ask if he could have two of them and he said "yes". But instead of putting two on the plate, he brought out two full plates. I helped him "taste" the second plate and it was so good! (And boneless).

Again, I didn't take pictures of dessert this time around either. It was the last night and I was slacking. We had the Apple Pie, Ice Cream and Pina Colada Lush.

After dinner we all headed back to the room to shower and finish packing and to get our luggage out. They are supposed to be out by 10pm but I didn't have them ready until 10:30pm and I wasn't the only one either.

All of my friends together from this cruise. Now I have NEVER had a room steward leave each towel animal throughout the entire cruise before and I always see people taking pictures of them at the end. I wasn't taking any chances this time around and I would hide my animal each day so that I would have all of them at the end. Winning!

We would head to bed and be bothered by kids "Ding Dong Ditching" our door several times tonight. I didn't even know what that meant but every time someone would knock on the door and we would answer it, there was no one there. The kids let me in on this term I was unaware of. I swear I felt like there wasn't many kids on this cruise as there has been on other cruises during Easter/Spring Break but this last day and night, they were everywhere and acting up running in the hallways, yelling and "ding dong ditching" people. Where did they all come from? Where have they been this entire cruise (and the last)? They came out of no where I tell ya.

Sakari shows me her picture for the night. I love when she uses paper and pencil instead of the ipad. The ipad has been her thing for awhile now.

A little tv and then off to bed we went. We had to be out of the room by 8am tomorrow and I don't like rushing so I set my alarm for 6am...just in case I decided to over sleep.
