Cozumel 2021

House Tour...

We rented this house on TripAdvisor. You can also find it on Airbnb and Vrbo as well. It's a newly built home and absolutely beautiful. It has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms with walk in showers and one being as you come in from the pool, there's another shower outside by the pool as well, 2 balconies off 2 of the bedrooms, very open floor plan, an inground pool and backyard oasis that is completely private with very tall walls on all 3 sides, a wall of windows leading from the house to the pool that open completely to bring the outdoors inside, enclosed but yet open garage behind a garage door. It's a very safe place to stay with a video doorbell to see the outside as well. There's so many other options I can't even remember but it's a wonderful place to stay in.

The host, Ana, is absolutely AMAZING! Very quick to answer any questions, very friendly, and she will help you with anything you need during your stay. She helped us multiple times with calls, places to eat and go, and anything we would ask her that we needed. I have never had a host be so amazing!!!

This home is located in the heart of San Miguel and minutes to all the beaches and also within walking distance to many food places.

The address is 50 Avenida entre 19 y 21 sur.

So here we go...¡Bienvenido a mi casa!

The outside of the home:

As you go into the open "garage": There's (also) a door beside the garage that you could either unlock using a key or you could buzz someone in or out from the inside keypad. Then of course there was a camera there as well so you could see who you were buzzing in. The house came with 2 sets of keys and a garage door remote.

Coming into the home, you walk into the living room and everything is completely open and clutter free.

Kitchen area off to the left side and open with an island and bar with chairs.

Ana even met us with a fresh fruit basket with banana's, mango's, a pineapple and some cookies.

Dining at the back before going out to the pool with a suspended staircase leading upstairs.

The laundry room is located right off the kitchen area and also has a door leading outside to the front of the house. It creates a very nice breeze if needed. You will find a gas grill, a cooler, lounge chair cushions and a sand bucket and a basketball in there. There's also extra bottled water in there in case you run out. There were also 2 ironing boards and a laundry basket to use.

Off the dining room and leading to the outside, you will find a complete 3rd bathroom with shower and a door from the pool area.

Outside shower to rinse off at and a pull out drying rack to hang your things on to dry. A scuba divers dream home and I now want one of these for our pool!

This is the deadbolt to the house...4 of them!!! This place is on lockdown and very safe! Not that it's in a bad area, because I didn't feel like that at all.

Ok, let's go outside...the wall of windows leading out that will completely open up and there's also a screen for in the evenings.

The private pool area. The pool was very clean and they have pool guys come twice a week on Monday's and Fridays. There's a table with chairs, several lounge chairs and lights both on the walls and inside the pool. It is nicely landscaped with greenery, palms, cactus plants and flowers. There's also a pool house, which is where they keep the materials for the pool, where the light to to the pool is located, and the nets to clean the pool. There is a basketball hoop on the wall to play while you're in the pool and pool noodles. All the added touches!

Time to head upstairs. Above the stairs there are skylights, which gives off a lot of light and makes it feel like there are lights on. I don't know how many times I checked for lights. There was one that had a pretty stain glass in it as well. Then there are glass blocks along one wall, which happen to be on the balcony of the master bedroom area.

The hallway is open to the living room too.

Off the hallway is the "forbidden" room. It leads to the upstairs roof area and of course is used for maintenance only. But I like that it had a glass door on it, which also let in more light upstairs.

There are 3 bedrooms upstairs...and here's the weird thing...I didn't even take a picture of the front bedroom that Sakari slept in for some reason. It has bunk beds in it and has a front balcony. She decided to take that room because she wanted the balcony and loved to go out there and sit and watch the sunset in the evening if we were home at that time. I did however, find a picture online that they used for their advertisements that I can show you what it looked like. So, this is not my picture.

The bedroom beside it had a full bed and plenty of storage room with a very long table area and perfect for drawing or working at by the window.

The main full bathroom upstairs had a walk in shower and I really wished that it would have been in the master bedroom. It would have been so much easier for me to shower and it was bigger. Although I do have to say that there is absolutely no way to take a shower and it not go all over the bathroom floor and toilet. It splashes everywhere because there was a rain showerhead and no way to adjust it. I took a shower in there once and I absolutely loved it. Sakari said it just felt weird without having a shower curtain at first but she got used to it.

Up next is the master bedroom. It had a large (king bed I believe) and an entire wall of closet space and drawers. Plenty of room for everything you could possibly bring and more. All the bedrooms and bathrooms had shutters that could be easily closed when/if needed. Master bedroom had a tv, but we never used it. Inside the closet by the bed, there was a safe to use and lock up your valuables.

There's also a nice little area off the bedroom and before going into the bathroom with a desk and chair and lighting. This is a great little area to get ready in and you can sit and do your make up or hair. It comes with a hairdryer as well.

Master bathroom: There is a glass door with an etched turtle in it (have you notice the turtle theme throughout the home?) and the ceiling is open to the bedroom as well. You have double sinks and plenty of light. It also comes with a built in magnifying mirror (which worked good for a nightlight for us lol). All bathrooms came with enough toilet paper to last the entire time we were there.

Now the shower...it's somewhat on the small side. It was round and had a shower curtain around it. There are built in shelves in the wall to hold soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I do have to say that I really wished that the other shower was in here instead. This thing was just a tad bit small for it to be a master bedroom bath. Just my opinion.

Lastly is the master bedroom balcony. It was a great place to wake up to and sit out on for a little while before going down stairs. The birds were always chirping and I have to admit, it's a great view! ;)  The doors to the balcony are glass, but they are etched glass, so it allows privacy as well.

One last picture that I have to share and that's the front door: stained glass turtle of course. So pretty, especially when the light was shining in every day. I loved the turtle theme they had going on here. Now the funny thing is, I wouldn't discover that this place had a reasoning behind the name, which was Triskel "Tortuga", which means turtle in Spanish, and this was the reasoning behind the turtle theme and name. I found this out by looking online, and just wondering if the other side of this place looked identical to our side and found that it was named Triskel "Delfin", meaning dolphin and their side was exactly the same but with dolphins. How cool is that???

Ok, so just a few thoughts on this place. It is absolutely gorgeous! I would highly recommend it to anyone. Great location, secure, private, new and has all the amenities. The host is the best I have ever encountered with her helpfulness on everything we did.

We were left fresh fruit and cookies to begin our stay and the hubby also had coffee and sugar packets. Such a nice added touch. She also had some channel on, on the tv, that was playing some soothing music that reminded me of being in some fancy ritzy hotel. Very nice added touch again. Although once we turned it off that night, we never turned the tv on again. We just spent all of our time out back the entire stay.

All the cooking pots and pans, juicer, blender, coffee maker, toaster, plates and bowls, and everything else was there to use as needed.

The following things are all I could think of as far as complaints or things that could just be improved on.

We were given 3 towels only! I use 2 myself (1 for my hair and 1 for my body) and only having a total of 3 towels was just not enough. That's 1 per person. That meant we were constantly having to wash them or at least dry them all the time. I just don't think I've ever been in an airbnb (or rental) that only provided 1 towel per person. We were given 3 large, very nice beach towels (which is the norm) so we just washed all the towels together all the time. This also meant there was only 1 wash cloth per bathroom and 1 hand towel. I wash my face first thing in the morning when I get up and then again in the evening to wash my makeup off. This meant I had a dirty rag on a daily basis.

While we are talking about towels...I couldn't find ANY cleaning towels and by cleaning towels I mean like a dishrag to clean off the counters or tables. We only had 2 hand dishtowels (the bigger ones) and I would constantly have to wet a corner of one of them to use to clean off counters.

I've been to several airbnb's before and each that I have been to always were loaded with items such as spices and cooking necessities that are not really things you would normally want to go out and purchase for a short vacation stay because there's no way to use those items up. So we went without things that we would normally use for seasonings because there weren't any. There was a small pepper and salt shaker (really really small) that I didn't even discover until a few days before we left.

The only real cups they had to use were plastic cups. We were told not to take any glass out around the pool, which is understandable, but we spent almost all of our time out back at the table in the mornings and evenings, and I absolutely hate drinking out of a plastic cup. There was no option of glass at all other than the coffee cups the hubby used in the mornings. I just really wished they had real glass cups.

The table out by the pool is a somewhat flimsy plastic table. It "looks" like a heavy duty table made of tile, but that's just an illusion. You don't know how many times my foot hit it and our drinks spilled or it constantly moved. With such a nice place like this, I would have thought they would have a nicer patio table and maybe an umbrella with it as well for the sun beaming down late morning.

Honestly, this place is just awesome and I think anyone would love this place as a vacation home and we would definitely rent this place again in the future when we return to Cozumel.
